Support our patients and visitors to explore The People’s Gallery

by Your City and Metropolitan Hospitals Charity (SWB NHS Trust)

Our new gallery space will have an Audio Trail, a Healthcare Heritage Exhibition, newly restored Stained Glass windows from City Hospital, and an ever-changing gallery of art works emerging from community engagement. We are looking for volunteers who can talk to patients and visitors about the exhibitions on display, and answer questions they might have. We’d like our volunteers to be able to listen and talk to patients and visitors, making them feel at ease. Our volunteers will encourage people to explore the gallery space and discover the heritage interpretations. Part of the role will be to encourage contributions to experience surveys and feeding back any issues to the Arts Team.
Pre-agreed expenses will be reimbursed.

Preferred skills

Guidance and/or training will be given where required. An ability to connect with people would be beneficial. Good listening skills and an interest in history, heritage, and healthcare would be ideal.

Experience gained

Our volunteers will have opportunities to interact with a diverse group of people, including staff, patients, families, service users, and community groups within the hospital setting. Therefore there will be communication, teamwork, and caregiver skills gained. Our volunteers will gain a great understanding of our local history and heritage in the context of healthcare.
