Help us keep, develop and protect our Community Garden so that it can be enjoyed by everyone

by Your City and Metropolitan Hospitals Charity (SWB NHS Trust)

An opportunity to get involved in our developing community garden, this role is open to anyone who would like to get stuck in to a bit of planting, pruning, mulching or weeding. As our hospital community garden develops, you can be part of its growth and nurture working with our creative partners “We Are Spectra” as they continue to build up the garden and a new area of plants for healing.
Pre-agreed expenses will be reimbursed.

Organisation description

To enhance the experience of everyone using our hospitals and healthcare services. Our vision is to have improved life chances and better health outcomes in our communities and care systems.

Address

Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital, Grove Lane
B66 2QT Smethwick

Accessibility

This would be physical work, but we endeavour to overcome all accessibility issues where we can.

Preferred skills

No previous experience needed, and guidance and/or training will be given where required. As this is a community garden open to all, it would be great if our volunteers can talk to visitors and help them to understand and enjoy the garden.

Experience gained

Our volunteers will gain plenty of experience working in a garden, understanding what is needed at each season to nurture and develop the garden throughout the year. They will have opportunities to work with and alongside a diverse group of people, potentially supporting patient, staff and community groups to enjoy the environment and understand the garden. Therefore there will be communication, teamwork, and caregiver skills gained.
