Become a Community Champion in your local area

by MND Association

Do you want to engage with and help your local community? Community Champions at the MND Association work with local communities to raise awareness of MND and help to reach people who are not aware of the association's services. There will be a particular focus on engagement with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people, young people, LGBT people, and people with disabilities. Our aim is to ensure that no one faces MND alone by ensuring that all barriers to participation are broken down. There are a number of ways you can get involved, for example: • Talking with local communities and attending local events • Providing information on issues facing people affected by MND • Increasing the awareness of MND amongst local communities • Building partnerships with local groups who can assist in raising awareness and collaboration. • Championing diversity within the local branch or group and helping to enhance inclusivity. • Working with volunteers and staff to address any activities that make it hard for people to volunteer or use Association services.

On your bike...indoors!

by British Triathlon

British Triathlon are looking for 3-4 volunteers to help deliver our indoor cycling sessions. We want these sessions to be for and run by people from the community, creating a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. We are looking to create a social ride session, taking people who may never have been on a bike and teaching them how to set up a spin bike and then lead them on a ride. Rides do not need to be hard, but an opportunity to get more active, increase the heart rate a little bit and have a chat with other riders. We are looking at running the first 12 weeks as women’s only so are particularly interested to hear from female volunteers. We will provide upskilling opportunities and some training before the sessions start to support you in the role. You do not need to commit to run every session but we are looking to build a social element so being able to support a block would be advantageous so you can build a relationship with the riders. Sessions are Tuesdays, 09:45-10:30.

Help bring the local community together, whilst keeping fit.

by Friends of Red House Park

Red House Park is a lovely park with some great features, including the Grade II listed building, lakes, woodlands, and the Princess Charlotte memorial. Currently we don’t have a walking group in the park, which is a real shame, one that would benefit the local community, by keeping them active and help reduce isolation. Join us to help form and lead a walking group.
