People with a disability tend to face huge barriers to participate in sport and physical activity – from inadequate facilities, to lack of opportunities. Midland Mencap aspire to improve and increase the opportunities and experiences of those with learning disabilities in sport and physical activity, to benefit them physically, socially, and mentally. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us deliver accessible sports sessions across the Midlands. What would I be doing? • Assisting and leading the delivery of sport activities in a fun, inclusive and engaging manner • Helping to create and deliver session plans meeting the needs of the participants • Ensuring the safety of participants, as well as yourself, during sessions • Registering attendance of the participants • Creating positive relationships with citizens, families, carers, and colleagues

A legacy of Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Gen22 is an environmental social action project aimed at empowering communities and providing skills for young people in conservation, project management and planning. Participants will work together to connect with and improve local green spaces, building their awareness of nature and developing valuable employability skills. It is a youth-led project, giving participants the opportunity to design, manage, budget and lead their own projects with the support of industry professionals. The project will take place over a period of 30 hours (4 days).

Community Ambassadors are amazing people who set up and lead the Marathon Kids UK events and manage the team of volunteers. General volunteers are people who love to get involved in their community and be part of a team supporting the Community Ambassador to deliver all aspects of the event. No experience is needed as all training is given. Marathon Kids UK events involve: Setting up the 250m track (4 corner flagpoles) Welcoming children and families Leading fun running-based warm up games Organising relay races, and 20 minutes endurance run Leading celebrations of all achievements made

parkride is a fun and flexible inclusive cycling project that provides anyone, regardless of age or need, with the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors through cycling, together! You would be: • Supporting children and adults with learning disabilities (including people who have complex needs) and their families/carers to take part in regular community bike rides • Helping to set up before each session and tidying away afterwards • Assisting Midland Mencap staff to deliver fun and engaging parkride sessions • Helping to maintain a fleet of bikes to ensure as many people as possible can take part in cycling sessions • Helping parkride participants to learn the basics of bicycle maintenance

Shape strategy for sport and wellbeing
